about

My vision for a "bass duo" began sometime in 2003. I'd been working successfully as a "solo bass" act, but missed the interplay of another musician. I knew if I could find the right bass player it just might work.
Shortly thereafter, I discovered Kristin Korb. I contacted her and spoke with her about my idea. She said, "Let's give it a try". So I booked us at a "duo series" I was hosting. She came and had dinner with my family and me, we talked over a few tunes and we were off to the gig. Well, the rest is history. My vision was quickly becoming a reality. Just one thing was missing. I found it quickly in Kendall Kay. He's one of the finest drummers and people you'll ever hope to work with. He ALWAYS plays the RIGHT thing at the RIGHT time. My vision is now complete.
I hope you find this cd musical, entertaining and a little bit innovative. Not bad for 2 bass players and a drummer! - Todd Johnson

ABOUT THE MUSICIANS

KRISTIN KORB - vocals & acoustic bass. Born and raised in Montana, Kristin holds a B.A. in music education from Eastern Montana College and a M.A. from the
University of California (San Diego). Her debut CD, "Introducing Kristin Korb", was on the Telarc label and featured bassist Ray Brown (Kristin's main musical influence),
pianist Benny Green and drummer Gregory Hutchinson. Guest artists included Conte Candoli, Plas Johnson and Oscar Castro-Neves. Her second CD, "Where
You'll Find Me" (on Double K Music), features Kristin singing and playing bass in a trio setting with drummer Jeff Hamilton and pianist Mike Wofford. Kristin, who won
the Jazzconnect.com 4th Annual Jazz Competition in 2004, performs frequently in the Southern California area.

TODD JOHNSON - 6-string electric bass. Recognized as a pioneer of
the six-string bass, Todd uses an innovative technique on his custom
Yamaha six-string bass where he plays chord changes and bass lines
simultaneously. A long-time member of the Ron Escheté Trio, Todd can be
seen frequently in the Southern California area with Ron’s trio, the Kristin
Korb/Todd Johnson Trio, and as a solo act. Todd is also the producer of
the Get Happy CD

KENDALL KAY - drums. Born in Durban, South Africa, Kendall Kay
moved to the United States in 1983 to study Jazz at North Texas State
University. He moved to L.A. in 1987 and has become a U.S. citizen in
recent years. One of the most versatile drummers around, Kendall is much
in demand and has recorded or performed with artists like Poncho
Sanchez, Cecilia Coleman, Steve Huffstetter, Bob Sheppard, Kenny Burrell,
Phil Upchurch, Allan Broadbent, Kyle Eastwood, Mundell Lowe and Rickie
Lee Jones. Kendall is also a member of the Ron Escheté Trio.
